Engineered Quantum Matter

Hello – welcome to our research group!

In the 2D Engineered Quantum Matter subgroup at the SNQS chair of WSI (Prof. Dr. J. J. Finley), we seek to engineer and understand how electronic states interact with each other and their environment in 2D materials and their heterostructures. Our approach involves developing novel nanoscale devices to directly manipulate the single- and many-body wavefunctions of electrons and excitons in 2D materials. Time integrated and time resolved spectroscopy can then give us detailed insight into the mechanisms by which the excitons form, interact with each other and their environment, form correlations, and eventually decay. With such nanostructures, it is possible to realize useful quantum technologies, on-chip quantum simulations, and new quantum many-body phases.
